Ronnie Ratcliffe
circa 1960
in one of the seedling houses he built with
his own hands. Note the clay pots and osmunda/sphagnum mix used in those days -
no fertiliser allowed!
The mossy wall and the condensation shows
the snug and steamy stove-house conditions under which Paphs (then known as Cyps)
were grown in earlier times. Air circulation fans were not used; for good air movement
one simply opened the overhead vents.
